EMERGING farmers and entrepreneurs in agri-processing were encouraged to enter the Eskom Business Investment Competition (BIC) on www.eskombic2021.co.za until on October 31.

“The Eskom 2021 BIC is aiming to help emerging farmers commercialise and formalise their businesses”, said Eskom Development Foundation chief executive, Cecil Ramonotsi.

The 13-year-old BIC provides an opportunity for entrepreneurs to showcase their offering.

Businesses in engineering and construction, manufacturing, or trade and services sectors that have been in business for at least two years are also invited to participate and stand a chance to walk away with cash prizes.

While the BIC seeks to inject financial support into the small businesses, the Business Connect that follows the BIC aims to empower BIC entrants with business skills and networking opportunities.

It is also a platform for the BIC winners to market their products and services. |

THE NATIONAL Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) said it was aware of a fake Circular Notice 22 circulating on social media platforms regarding the NSFAS allowance increase for the 2022 academic year.

“NSFAS can confirm that the circular is fake and consists of false information,” it said.

It said prospective applicants were also advised to be aware of fake websites and social media platforms advising them to apply for funding, share their personal information and/or unlock their NSFAS Wallet accounts.

Should students require assistance regarding their NSFAS funding, the NSFAS Contact Centre is “fully functional” and can be accessible on the details provided below.

It said applications for 2022 academic year funding were not open yet.

“NSFAS will communicate the opening date soon. Students are encouraged to constantly monitor our social media platforms for updates.”

Students, prospective applicants and the public were urged to report suspicious messages or calls from fraudsters posing as NSFAS officials or any fraudulent activities to the Vuvuzela Hotline: 0860 247 653. Email: info@ nsfas.org.za |
